In view of the recent spate of wounding cases involving triads, the Criminal Division of Kowloon West, together with officers from Yau Tsim, Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po and Kowloon City Police Districts, conducted a code-named "Light" in Tsim Sha Tsui from November 14 to today "CATCHLIGHT" (CATCHLIGHT) anti-triad operation, crack down on illegal activities in the region and cut off triad income sources.


Officers from Kowloon West Region and various police districts, mobile units, stormtroopers, and personnel from the Ministry of Communications patrolled multiple entertainment venues in the area, raided multiple locations, and set up roadblocks at multiple locations to crack down on traffic violations.

The operation ended at about 3 am today.

During the operation, officers arrested a total of 347 people, including 16 local boys, 213 local men, 101 local women, 4 Mainland men, 6 Mainland women, 4 foreign men and 3 foreign women. Aged 12 to 77, suspected of wounding, conspiracy to wound, claiming to be a triad member, drug possession, drug trafficking, criminal damage, possession of offensive weapons, operating a gambling establishment and operating a prostitution establishment.

The operation is still ongoing and further arrests cannot be ruled out.

The Police reiterated that cracking down on triad activities is one of the Commissioner of Police's top operational objectives.

The Police will continue to focus on cracking down on triad target persons and their criminal activities to curb relevant illegal activities.
