(CNN Spanish) --

The Government of Colombia will deliver at the end of the year a bond for an amount of 500,000 pesos (about US$ 102 at the current exchange rate) for the poorest households in the country.

There will be two million households that will receive this unique amount in the month of December, reported the Department of Social Prosperity.

The contribution is part of the shock plan "against hunger and poverty" of the Colombian government.

Who will be the beneficiaries of this 500,000 bonus?

Two million homes will receive this benefit, according to the Department of Social Prosperity.

Of them, "mothers who are heads of household who are in a situation of poverty and extreme poverty will be prioritized," according to information from Social Prosperity.

  • 1.5 million households that are currently beneficiaries of Solidarity Income.

But only those who are part of Group A of Sisbén IV, of which 74.3% have a woman as the head of the household or who have a "female head" as their owner, reported Social Prosperity.

  • 400,000 households from Familias en Acción, another government social program that provides an economic amount to improve the health and education of families with children under 18 years of age in poverty and vulnerability.

  • Women will also be beneficiaries of the Jóvenes en Acción program —another government financial aid program for low-income youth with outstanding performance in their higher education— who are mothers of children under 6 years of age in Group A of Sisbén IV.

Will the beneficiaries of this bonus receive double amount?

No. The beneficiaries of this 500,000-peso bonus will be chosen from among those who are part of the aforementioned social programs.

But they will NOT receive double income.

In other words, if a family is a beneficiary of Solidarity Income, in December of this year they will not receive the 400,000 pesos that they usually receive for this program, but only the 500,000-peso bonus.

This bonus is superior to what other social programs provide.

For example, Solidarity Income delivers 400,000 pesos or less, according to the Sisbén Group;

Familias en Acción delivers an economic amount depending on the number of minors in the home.

Jóvenes en Acción delivers an average of 200,000 pesos at the end of the bimonthly academic period.

How to request this amount?

It is not necessary to request it.

The social aid programs of the Government of Colombia are based on the classification of Sisbén IV, a State survey to find out the socioeconomic conditions of families and classify them by "their ability to generate income and quality of life", according to the National Department of Planning (DPN) of Colombia.

Group A of Sisbén IV is classified as groups of extreme poverty.

So, as it is delivered based on the existing databases of Ingreso Solidario, Familias en Acción and Jóvenes en Acción, it is not necessary to register.

The Department of Social Prosperity told CNN that the conditions to access this economic benefit and the dates and means of payment will be available from the first week of December.

What will happen to Solidarity Income?

President Gustavo Petro announced in early November that the Solidarity Income program will end on December 31, 2022 due to lack of budget.

Petro said that this payment will be transformed in the remainder of the year (that is, for the payments of the last cycle) in the bonus of 500,000 pesos per month.
