Two people were killed, several others were injured, and many homes were destroyed by a hurricane that swept through the southern United States today.
The Associated Press quoted Christina Thornton, a local official in the city of Montgomery, as saying: Two people were killed after a tree fell on their home due to strong winds in the Flatwood area, north of the city of Montgomery.
And the authorities issued several warnings of winds in areas inhabited by more than 25 million people, and according to meteorologists, the storm continues to threaten near the coast of Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
High winds destroyed several homes in Hill County, Alabama, and knocked down power lines, and more than a third of residents live in mobile homes that are at high risk, the emergency manager said.
