Xinhua News Agency, Montreal, Canada, December 19th (Reporter Huang Yao Shi Xiaomeng) The second phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) passed the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Global Biodiversity Framework” (referred to as the “Framework”) to draw a new blueprint for global biodiversity governance up to 2030 and beyond.
After nearly two weeks of negotiations and consultations in Montreal, Canada, under the leadership and promotion of China, the presidency of the General Assembly, the parties reached agreement on key issues such as the "Framework" objectives, resource mobilization, and digital sequence information on genetic resources.
The theme of COP15 is "Ecological Civilization: Building a Community of Life on Earth", which consists of two sessions.
The first phase of the meeting was successfully held in Kunming, China in 2021; the second phase of the meeting will be held in Montreal, where the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity is located, from December 7 to 19 this year. China will continue to lead the substantive and political aspects of the conference as the presidency affairs.
