A 9-year-old boy was run over to death today (Tuesday) on Route 31, at the entrance to Arad - the driver fled the scene.
The boy was taken in critical condition to the Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva by MDA teams who were called to the scene. There, after resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The police began investigating the suspicion of a hit-and-run accident and searching for the fleeing driver. With the help of the police's aerial formation, searches were carried out during which he was located in the area Near the scene of the accident, the offending vehicle was without the driver. Later, the 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Pazorat Kaseife, was arrested. The police are continuing to investigate the case.
