In honor of the Hanukkah holiday, the chief rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, came to the Hanukkah party held in the prison.

The event opened with a welcome on behalf of the prison administration, which expressed its appreciation for the spiritual activity that has a very positive effect on all the other thousands of prisoners there.

The meeting was also attended by Rabbi Aharon Gurvitz, who presented to the commanders and heads of the prison an example of a dedication sign that will soon be erected at the site, to commemorate the pure memory of the unforgettable Hasid Rabbi Mordechai Dobin A.H., who was a famous public businessman years ago, served As the chairman of Agudath Israel and a representative in the Latvian House of Representatives, he managed the Jewish community in Latvia with a high hand, and worked a lot for the release of K.K.

Rabbi Dubin was imprisoned in this prison and sat there for about three years, like many dedicated Chassidim who suffered among the writers of the place which has been operating continuously for more than 240 years.

At the appointed time, the officers escorted the chief rabbi to the synagogue, where more than a number of Jews were already waiting, who were moved by the sight of the honored guest with the lighting of Hanukkah candles.

After the prayer and Torah lesson, an exciting and uplifting Hasidic meeting was held.

At the end of the event, Alexander Zilberg and Shlomo Dishko, who are active at the site throughout the year, presented a set of menorah for Hanukkah to all the prisoners, along with a package of kosher food and sweets in honor of the holiday.

It should be noted that this activity is a continuation of additional visits held in several other prisons in Moscow during the days of Hanukkah, alongside an extensive and extensive activity held by the organization of the Shaare Zedek Jewish Charity Center in Moscow, for the entire adult population, the elderly and the incarcerated who received ahead of time large holiday kits with candles and an instructional booklet for laws and customs Hanukkah days.
