Wuppertal: Man threatens the police with a knife, hammer and ax
When the police arrived at the apartment building in the Vohwinkel district, the 39-year-old man is said to have immediately announced that he wanted to arm himself with a knife worn on his body, reports 24RHEIN.
After that, the man even wanted to grab a hammer and an ax.
However, the local police were able to prevent this.
"With the support of other forces, we managed
to bring the man under control and tie him up," reports the Wuppertal police.
The 39-year-old could hardly be calmed down.
When he was being transported from the house into the patrol car, he kicked around and slightly injured a police officer.
"A total of five police officers suffered injuries," said a police spokesman.

During the search of the 39-year-old, two more knives and a bag, presumably with drugs, were found.
The man was initially taken into police custody and is to be taken to a psychiatric clinic.
The police are now investigating the case.
The 39-year-old faces a prison sentence of six months to five years for his attack on the officers.
"Should the accused have acted incapacitated, a longer-term placement in a psychiatric clinic should be considered," the police concluded.
Just last weekend, more than 40 police officers were injured in riots on New Year's Eve in North Rhine-Westphalia.
