At least 20 people were killed in a suicide attack near the Foreign Ministry building in Kabul.

The Taliban's Ministry of Information said that a suspect, whose identity has not yet been sought, blew himself up using an explosive belt.

Dozens of people were injured in the attack.

As of this writing, no organization has accepted responsibility for the explosion.

According to the Taliban police spokesman, Khaled Zadran, the terrorist planned to enter the local foreign ministry.

Kabul Police Command spokesman Khalid Zadran says that an explosion occurred on a road near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon.


He adds that security forces have reached the area and full details of the incident will be shared later.

It is estimated that the number of dead will rise in the coming hours.

The incident is another blow to the Taliban who are trying to strengthen their grip on the country and stabilize the security situation in it in the face of the effort on the part of the "Islamic State of Khorasan" organization to overthrow the regime in Afghanistan.
