The mother of the late Danny Gonen, who was murdered seven years ago in a terrorist attack, recently received exciting news from the Hebrew Language Academy:
a word that her late son came up with while studying for his degree as an alternative to another word - was accepted by them, and the person who applied to the academy was his classmate.
The approved term is cloaking, and it means hiding a body by creating an envelope that routes the light waves around it, thus creating an illusion of transparency.
Moshe Gamaliel, Danny's friend studying electrical engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at Bar-Ilan University, said in his letter to the academy that in one of the classes one of the lecturers called a process in his field of occupation "concealment", and commented that "there is no good word in Hebrew for this term".
In response, Danny said that "it should be called Lota", while relying on biblical phrases such as "Here she is Lota in her dress" (1 Samuel 11:10).
The word was suggested during a lesson.

Gamaliel, who remembered his friend's proposal, decided to "pay off the debt" and forwarded the proposal to the academy - and a team of experts discussed the term and chose the proposal from several proposals that came up.
We note that it is not every day that the Academy approves a Hebrew alternative to words.
It is a complex procedure that takes time and requires thinking.
Gonen was 25 years old when he was murdered in an attack in June 2015 near the Ein Bobin spring near the settlement of Dolev.
The mother, Deborah, was very surprised when she received the phone call from Dina Yemini from the Faculty of Engineering last week.
"I had no idea about the process," she admitted.
