What's next for the "Residenz Weilheim"?

That is currently unclear.

The operator of the facility, "Curata Pflege GmbH", is currently checking its locations.

Weilheim

– It is news that made headlines across Germany: The private nursing home operator Curata, which operates around 40 facilities across Germany, has applied for individual companies in the group to open insolvency proceedings under self-administration – the Charlottenburg court has already granted them.

Also affected by the insolvency is "Curata Pflege GmbH", which has been running the "Residenz Weilheim" since 2014.

Nursing home affected by insolvency: Group wants to restructure

The aim of the nursing home operator is "the comprehensive restructuring of the Curata Group as a whole," says spokeswoman Anke Sostmann.

The "stable core of the group of companies" is to be protected and sustainably strengthened.

"Discussions are being held with business partners to review and possibly adjust contractual relationships," she explains.

"At the same time, alternative care places are being sought for the residents of facilities whose closure is pending." Employees in these homes should receive job offers for other locations.

The closure has already been announced for the first facilities.

Not for the "Residenz Weilheim".

According to Sostmann, the insolvency proceedings should last about six months.

Thereafter, the Curata Group will continue its business activities in a financially consolidated and sustainably restructured manner.

Concerns in the hospital: "If the Curata home in Weilheim were to close, it would be dramatic for us"

The “Residenz Weilheim” currently has 85 employees.

There are 104 in-patient places, 102 of which are currently occupied.

In addition, six beds are available for short-term care.

In view of the insolvency, those responsible at the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital are also worried about the latter.

"If the Curata home in Weilheim were to close, it would be dramatic for us," says Nursing Director Anne Ertel.

The reason: The social service of the hospital GmbH works closely with Curata.

Because there is an absolute shortage of permanent short-term care places in the region.

Patients, especially from the Weilheim hospital, who are discharged but cannot yet be accommodated at home, are regularly referred to Curata short-term care.

"They were always realistic and reliable partners," says Ertel.

The home is currently still accepting short-term care patients.

What awaits Weilheim residents and employees at the end of the insolvency remains uncertain for the time being.

According to Sostmann, with a few exceptions, it is still too early "to talk about specific effects on individual institutions".
