Did the Republican pressure work? • Many authors related to the critical theory of race were removed from the African-American curriculum in high schools.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not yet announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, but he may already be able to claim one achievement: after his harsh criticism, an organization responsible for advanced courses for high school students removed course content identified with the progressive agenda.

The "College Board" today published an updated syllabus for the African-American curriculum, which will be offered to high school students next year. This is the AP program, which examines the suitability of high school students for higher studies and even gives them a score for their future degree.

From the reading materials, many authors related to the critical theory of race (a field of research and activism, concerned with racism inherent in laws, representations and social structures) were removed.

Also, topics such as LGBT studies, black feminism, the debate on reparations and the BLM (Black Lives Matter) movement will no longer be mandatory units for the test, but optional.

On the other hand, more historical issues such as African history, slavery and the African-American civil rights movement remained almost unchanged.

At the same time, high school students are offered a new research topic: black conservatism.

The "College Board" presented the reading materials for the African-American course already in August, and was praised by prominent researchers in the field, but soon came under fire from the American right because of what was defined as the "politicization of studies".

De Santis recently announced that he would ban the teaching of the curriculum in Florida.

The Florida Department of Education announced that the program promotes the notion that women, blacks and other minorities are oppressed in the US. LGBT studies were deemed inappropriate.

Yesterday, De Santis took another step forward, announcing future reform in higher education to counteract "ideological conformity."

In response, the head of the "College Board", David Coleman, stated that the changes were made for pedagogical reasons.

"The changes resulted from feedback we received from professors, and in accordance with the principles that guide the suitability tests," he told The New York Times.
