An arson case occurred at Hoi Lai Estate in Cheung Sha Wan.
At about 4 am today (February 3), the police received a report from the security guard of Hai Rui Building that one of the lifts in the building caught fire and there was an explosion.
The firefighters rushed to the broken door and put out the fire. Fortunately, it was confirmed that no one was inside, but the inside of the house was severely blackened, and a trolley carrying multiple compressed gas tanks was left behind.
The fire department believed the fire was suspicious and the police classified it as "arson".

During the investigation, the security guard was notified by the residents that a 70-year-old man was found hanging himself at the iron gate of the unit.
Security guards and rescuers came to the door immediately to rescue the man. Firemen broke into the house and released the old man. He fell into a coma at the time and was sent to Caritas Hospital by ambulance.
The police preliminarily believed that the two cases were not related and are currently investigating the cause of the old man's hanging.
