Chinese scientists have discovered a method to trick hunger in order to lose weight • The subjects in the study thought they ate much more chocolate than actually happened

Sages once said that a billion Chinese do not make mistakes, so if Chinese scientists researched and found a method that should help you eat less and lose weight, wouldn't you try it?

It turns out that the trick is supposed to fool the hunger pangs and make us eat much less than we would expect.

A study conducted at Shaanxi University in China found that the way the food we eat is arranged on the plate affects the way our brain processes information about its quantity.

The amount we believe we have consumed can, in fact, affect the amount we choose to eat.

For example, if we believe that we consumed a large amount just because that's how it looked on the plate, we will feel full and not want to eat more.

Among the findings that emerged from the study was that cutting food into smaller portions tricks our brains into thinking that we are eating much more than we are actually putting into our bodies.

The researchers also found that arranging the food in the form of "small bites" on the plate with spaces between them, helps a person to make more informed decisions about consuming a lot and the size of the portion he chooses to eat.

The reason for this, according to the study, is that most of our meals are dictated by the apparent portion size and not by satiety or how full we really feel.

As part of the study, 34 participants were examined.

The researchers presented them with, among other things, 60 pictures of a chocolate bar weighing between 20-60 grams and cut into different sizes.

The subjects were also shown a series of pictures of another chocolate bar weighing 100 grams that had been cut into 9-16 pieces.

Some of the pictures showed the chocolate as one block placed on the plate.

In another part the pieces were arranged on the plate with spaces between them.

Although the amount of chocolate was the same, it emerged that the participants thought that the 16 pieces of chocolate were a larger portion than the 9 pieces.

The study also revealed that the participants assumed that there was more chocolate on the plate where the pieces were arranged with spaces between them, and this despite the fact that the weight of the pieces was the same.

"When the food served is arranged on the plate in such a way that there are spaces between the pieces, the brain assumes that the amount is larger," the study determined.
