To its ambitions, its constraints.

This is Christian Estrosi's big project: to demolish the Acropolis convention center to extend the green corridor.

This shakes up local political life and rekindles the enmity between the mayor and his best enemy Éric Ciotti against the backdrop of the pre-campaign for the municipal elections of 2026. But the first magistrate of the city is holding the right end and moving forward.

Symbolically, skillfully and a bit provocative, some would say, the municipality had the letters "Acropolis" removed from the yellow building in the city center.

In this series, several episodes also concern the relocation of the MIN Flowers (market of national interest).

In the place where it is located, to the west of the city and very close to the airport, the city councilor wishes to build a new exhibition and congress centre.

But finding new ground for the “local Rungis” is not an easy task.

And this becomes the source of yet another imbroglio.

First, the MIN Fleurs landed in La Gaude, in the Baronne district.

Christian Estrosi had tied up a public-private partnership between the company MIN d'Azur and Bouygues Immobilier.

To each ambition... its constraints and challenges.

Several appeals had been filed by an environmental association to delay this move.

Before this one is definitively aborted.

The mayor justified it by inflation and an increase in construction costs to more than 10 million euros.

“There is no question of imposing this potential financial risk on metropolitan taxpayers”

, he had defended himself, while denouncing the previous appeals as being

“blockages”

.

The relatives of Christian Estrosi have set out to find a new option.

This is the name of Saint-Laurent-du-Var mentioned.

A warehouse that housed a transport company had even been spotted.

But they did not satisfy flower wholesalers.

These professionals demanded to stay close to the food MIN.

Message heard.

Thursday, the metropolis of Nice announced in a press release to move the MIN Flowers with the MIN food after a week of discussions.

Either from Nice... to Nice.

From one side of the boulevard to the other, at Mercantour level.

This proposal was voted unanimously by the two technical advisory committees.

But this relocation is only temporary.

Christian Estrosi maintains that he wants to install the MIN as a whole elsewhere.

Or ?

The question still arises, with the ambition to build a new convention center to compete with the largest cities.

But with there too, its future constraints which are emerging.

During his rally to “save Acropolis” on February 4, Éric Ciotti argued that the MIN site was unbuildable.

"I do not see how, as it stands, the prefecture will be able to grant a building permit there"

, he explained, referring to the level of calibration of the banks of the Var nearby and the gauges which are not suitable. .

“New fake news!”

, reacted in the wake of the Estrosi camp.
