The opposition announced today (Monday) that it will boycott the vote on the legal reform in the plenum if the laws reach a second and third reading.
In a joint statement to the head of the opposition and chairman of Yesh Atid Yair Lapid, chairman of the state camp Benny Gantz, chairman of Yisrael Beitenu Avigdor Lieberman and chairman of the Labor Party Merav Michaeli it was stated that the opposition will do everything "to prevent the passing of the laws. But if God forbid we get to the reading Thirdly - we will not give it a hand and snore the vote in the plenary."
The initiative to boycott the legislation is Lieberman's.
"Instead of a crazy collection of laws, the right alternative at this time is a comprehensive and balanced constitutional arrangement, strengthening the separation of powers until a constitution is reached," the announcement reads.
The leaders of Hadash-Ta'al were not invited to participate in the meeting of the leaders of the opposition, following Lapid's policy since the inauguration of the Knesset.
The office of the head of the opposition says that RAM chairman Mansour Abbas was invited to attend, but said he would not be able to attend for personal reasons.

The chairman of the state camp, Gantz, called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the faction meeting to "stop the legislation at least until the end of the month of Ramadan.
It must not degenerate into an irresponsible constitutional crisis during a security crisis.
This is a reward for terrorism."
Gantz criticized the coalition for its intentions to move forward with the legislation of the plan to weaken the justice system. "Where do we want to go?
For the Memorial Day ceremonies that will be torn apart by brothers to the bereaved family in the cemeteries?
For a beacon ceremony that is boycotted by half the people?
Blood in the streets?
And if we don't stop and talk, unfortunately - we are on our way there."
Opposition leader Lapid was even more firm.
"Netanyahu has already been fortified, he has lost control over his government."
He said at a Yesh Atid faction meeting.
"His ministers don't count him out. The country is falling apart around him and he is prevented from doing anything. A real prime minister would knock on the table, stop the coup d'état, call the partners to order, and tell them, 'So far, it's over.' But Netanyahu can't, he too weak".
