Maine State Police on Monday shot a driver driving a vehicle with a sign indicating he was carrying an explosive device near the Canadian border and refused to stop, local authorities said.
An officer tried to stop him around 10:40 a.m., but the suspect, identified as Tony Holford, 42, of Providence, Rhode Island, continued driving toward Canada.

He was chased down I-95, and the Canadian border was temporarily closed, at whose doors the car stopped, although his driver continued to ignore the agents' orders to get out.
