In Maria Sharapova's book "Unstoppable," the Russian describes her life at Nick Bolitieri's academy in Bradenton, Florida.

One of the most interesting anecdotes in the book, which describes the transformation of a little girl without money and without English into a multi-millionaire world star, concerns her feelings in academia and her interface with the rest of her friends there.

And so the Russian writes on page 42: "There were actresses from all over the world, some were good, some were very good and some were great, but most of the actresses were not good at all. These actresses, who made the academy really profitable, were there because their parents could not cope. With reality. Even those who were really good could not be good enough, even I saw and understood it as a child. In this world, the distance between very good and great is the Grand Canyon. Most of the girls there were spoiled brats and you could see they did not want to be there. "After two minutes, you can understand that they have no idea how to play, they have no coordination, they are unable to differentiate between the left foot and the right foot. Maybe that's why they constantly experienced tantrums."

Later Sharapova recounts how lonely she was and felt that all the spoiled girls hated her, envied her and laughed at her in English that she did not really understand.

But she said she accepted it with the understanding that thanks to the lack of talent of rich girls like those girls, she could get a scholarship and train at a prestigious and expensive academy.

And why are we telling this story?

Because right now one tennis player, Jessica Pegola, is breaking out, who probably would not have gotten along so well with Sharapova if they had met at the academy as children.

The 26-year-old American is in a huge tournament at the Australian Championships and is already in the quarterfinals after beating, among others, Victoria Azarenka (12) and Alina Svitolina (5).

Jessica Pagola is also the daughter of gas tycoon Trans Pegula, who owns the Pegula Sports and Entertainment team, which owns several sports teams: the Palo Bills in the NFL, the Palo Sabers in the NHL and other crash teams and other industries.

It is estimated that Pegula Sr. is worth $ 4.9 billion.

Pegola Sr. competed in 2014 for a tender to buy Palo Bills from the NFL, defeating Donald Trump and John Bon Jovi, which was backed by a huge buying group.

According to reports, Pagola eventually bought the group for $ 1.4 billion, all in cash and on September 17 it was unanimously declared the owner of the group.

Quite a few people have argued in retrospect that this defeat is what motivated Trump to run and win the US presidential election.

Jessica herself grew up, of course, in very pampering conditions, which did not "make it" difficult for her to break out as a tennis player and get to collaborate with a dear coach like David White, who previously worked for years with Venus Williams.

On the other hand, the current success of the 26-year-old tennis player should not be attributed in any way to the fact that she is very rich.

Chris Clary of the New York Times wrote: "There is a lot of talk about Jessica Pegola with her billionaire parents and how clear it was that she would succeed. Keep dreaming. There is a long long list of kids with rich parents and big budgets who have not been successful at all in tennis. "It only gets longer by the day. Money can help, but only if you have exceptional talent and a real urge."

Indeed, Pegula, which owns a branch of a health food company and a skin protection company, has a tremendous urge.

It is not by chance that she got where she came from.

Last year she started to break out and reached the Auckland final earlier this year, where she lost to Serena Williams, for whom it was a bachelor’s degree after three years.

The one who tweeted congratulations on that occasion to Serena was none other than Donald Trump, who wrote: "Congratulations to Serena Williams on another great degree. She is a great player and even a great person. Our members at the Virginia Tennis Club will never forget you."

"The last hip injury was the hardest for me," she said in recent days, "when I realized I would have to have surgery, I was depressed for a few days. I didn't even know if I wanted to play again."

Pagola is today ranked 61st in the world after many years of shuffling and poor achievements following many injuries she suffered and made her think about giving up her career and moving on to business only.

Despite all the difficulty, knee and hip injuries, surgeries she had to undergo and the comfortable and pampering alternative, Pegola decided to insist and keep playing.

"The last hip injury was the hardest for me," she said in recent days, "when I realized I would have to have surgery, I was depressed for a few days. I did not even know if I wanted to go back to play. I knew it was going to be so hard. I managed to overcome it and told myself That I will fight it to the end. "

Pagola's real breakthrough came in 2019 when she defeated Anastasia Sebastiavna, who was then ranked 12th in the world at the Charleston tournament at home.

She has also had good tournaments before, like in Quebec in 2018 when she reached the final.

It was for her the confirmation that she was really good and could succeed despite everything she went through.

"It's weird because I'm 25 years old," she said then, "and I do not feel 25 that whenever I was young and I was about to break I was injured and then it happened again and further analysis. So I feel like I'm 20 years old and need to believe that I have the talent to succeed.

Fgolh Attraction And she said, "I'm constantly told that I'm the young American, but I'm not younger.

I think because I went through so many injuries at such a critical stage in my career, everyone feels I'm still young.

I feel missed on all those years and now I am gaining new experiences.

Maybe I could have come to this place a few years ago if not all the injuries. "

Money alone does not buy success in tennis.

In recent days as interest in her in the United States has grown and her father's football and hockey teams have been tweeting congratulations after each of her victories, Pagola has responded to a tweet from journalist Adam Shefter when she wrote: "Jessica Pagola, an American tennis player" after tweeting that she's a daughter.

She then responded to one surfer claiming she was just kidding and she understands why they mention she is the daughter of all time.

Pagola, who is the daughter of a Korean mother and has four other brothers who all work for the father's sports corporation, will play in the quarterfinals against her good friend Jennifer Brady, who said of her: "I'm very excited for her about advancing to the Grand Slam quarterfinals. I know how it feels "That she feels, it's like being in the ninth heaven. She plays great tennis and we played against each other before. We know each other great and I'm really looking forward to this game. I think a lot of people in the United States will watch it and they are guaranteed at least one American in the semifinals."

Pagola, by the way, said that during her severe injuries she was inspired by ... Maria Sharapova.

"I think it was pretty amazing how Maria came back and won Roland Garros after the shoulder injury," she recounted in 2019, "I don't think a lot of actors or actresses have done that in the past. It was amazing."

Pegola also said that her love for tennis came through reading biographies that her mother forced her to read when she was a child.

It turns out that it worked and that it is a virtue. The girl was inspired and got into a situation where she plays wonderfully with very powerful punches, but also with a lot of emotion and wisdom and also excellent movement.

Cinderella stories can probably be for the very rich as well.
