Is Serena Williams giving up in the race to reach the Grand Slam record?
The 39-year-old American was eliminated this morning (Thursday) from the Australian Championship in the semi-finals by Osaka speeches, and on her way down from the field she waved goodbye to the crowd in Melbourne, in an emotional parting than usual.
At the post-match press conference, Williams once again looked particularly excited.
When asked by one of the reporters if this was her last visit to Rod Labor Stadium, she said: "I do not know. If I ever break up, I will not announce it this way."
After answering the question, Williams abandoned the press conference in tears, without allowing reporters to ask further questions.
The loss once again prevented Williams from approaching the all-time record of winning Grand Slam tournaments, with the 24th title.
Her last Grand Slam win was four years ago in Australia, when she was pregnant.
Tonight was the first time they were eliminated in the semi-finals in Melbourne, after a 0: 8 balance in previous games.

Either way, after the storm calmed down, Williams posted a thank-you note on Instagram: "To Melbourne and all Australian fans, we did not pray for this result, but it does happen sometimes. I am lucky to have played in front of you, to receive the support and encouragement from you, "More today. I am grateful to each and every one of you, and I love you."
Osaka, who has been on 20 straight wins since February last year, received a hug from Williams and said at the end: "As a kid, I watched Serena play and admired her. Being with her on the same pitch is a dream come true for me."
The Japanese stands out as a clear favorite for the final to be held on Friday, where she will meet Jennifer Brady who defeated Carolina Mohova.
