In 2018, Germany's national ice hockey team sensationally reached the Olympic final after victories over Sweden and Canada.

For a few days, the DEB selection sparked a veritable puck madness.

Only the narrow defeat against Russia ended the dream of gold.

At the Winter Games in Beijing (February 4th to 20th), Germany can again hope for a medal - despite strong group opponents.

The core of the tournament is formed by the team that advanced to the semi-finals at the World Cup in Latvia last year.

The groups

Group A: Canada, USA, Germany, China

Olympics on TV

As usual, the public broadcasters will report on the Winter Games.

ARD and ZDF broadcast more than a hundred hours in two weeks.

Various live streams will be available on sportschau.de.

Eurosport also shows an extensive program from Beijing.

Here is played

The games will be played in two halls.

The Beijing National Indoor Stadium holds 18,000 spectators and was already used as a multi-purpose hall at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The same applies to the Cadillac Arena in the central district of Haidian.

Up to 18,000 people can also be seated here.

The women's game plan

The women's tournament begins on February 3rd, one day before the official opening ceremony.

Canada and the USA are once again the big favorites for gold, with the two ice hockey nations victorious in all six Olympic tournaments.

The German national team clearly missed the qualification as in 2018.
