Ski star Sofia Goggia has achieved the Olympic miracle.

Despite serious injuries, she takes silver in the downhill.

Update from February 15, 10:18 a.m .:

She did it!

Despite a broken fibula and a torn cruciate ligament (see the first report from February 6th) - Sofia Goggia won silver in the downhill.

She gets her medal behind Corinne Suter from Switzerland and in front of compatriot Nadia Delgado.

She showed her silver medal on Instagram and added: "Buongiorno Italia".

The downhill race took place very early in the morning (CET).

The day before the race, the athlete made an emotional post in which she described the roller coaster ride of emotions from January 23 to the departure for Beijing and the nomination for the downhill.

She affirms that she "believes" in herself and that her dream will come true if she participates in the downhill.

Ski star starts at the Olympics – despite a broken fibula and a torn cruciate ligament on January 23: “No words”

First report from February 6th:

Beijing – Participation in the Winter Olympics can be prepared as well as possible if you are hit by bad luck.

An injury or a positive corona test shortly before the big event in Beijing and the big dream of an Olympic medal is gone.

Skier Sofia Goggia had such a scare on January 23rd, at her home race in Cortina D'Ampezzo.

The designated flag bearer of Italy 2022 is so badly injured at the site of the 2026 Olympic Games that she will miss the major event in 2022?

There could hardly be more irony of bitter fate.

She is looking forward to the Olympics.

Olympic miracle in alpine skiing: Goggia, who was actually seriously injured, is back on skis

Wrong thought.

Although Goggia did not carry the Italian flag in the Vogelnest stadium at the opening of the games, nothing stands in the way of participating in alpine skiing.

What a story.

One day after the fall, she wrote: "If this is God's plan, I will open my arms and accept it." What sounded like resignation is already passé on February 4th.

Showing off on skis on the slopes, she wrote: "Goosebumps, I have them too... today that I'm back on skis.

I'm lost for words."

Olympia despite cruciate ligament tear and fibula fracture: How is that possible?

Goggia skipped surgery and made the comeback using conventional methods.

Physiotherapy helped her.

If the leg muscles are developed, they can strengthen a damaged cruciate ligament.

Depending on the severity of the cruciate ligament injury, a quick comeback is basically possible with the right measures.

The fracture in the fibula was a small one, which can probably be stabilized.

Until January 23, 2022, the Italian was the absolute top favorite for gold in the downhill and super-G.

She has won a total of six World Cups in both disciplines this season alone.

There is also a second and sixth place.

The extent to which the ailing 29-year-old can create the skiing miracle in Beijing will be seen on February 11 (Super G) and February 15 (downhill).

A competitor of hers is the German Kira Weidle, who got lost on the day of arrival.

Things get serious for the ski jumpers on Sunday: The first medal decision from the normal hill will rise.
