Israel's senior swimmer, Anastasia Gurbanko, failed to qualify for the 200m breaststroke world championships this morning (Wednesday) at the world championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The 18-year-old Gorbanko finished in a time of 2: 28.58 minutes, three seconds slower than her national record, when it was only enough for her to finish 20th overall.
As you may recall, at the beginning of the championship, Gorbanko advanced to the 200m individual medley final, in one of her strongest events, and she finished in fifth place - the highest ranking ever of an Israeli swimmer.
In the women's 100m freestyle, the young Daria Golovti (17) made her debut in the championship, stopping the clock at 55.85 seconds, which ranked her 24th out of 63 swimmers, who did not make it to the next stage.
