The pair of beach volleyball players, Nati Ohana and Elon Elazar, won the silver medal yesterday (Saturday) in the Future Round held on the Greek island of Ios and are expected to enter the top 40 in the world.
The two, led by coach Ohad Radko, managed to qualify for the final, against the Czech duo Matthias Dzorunok and Vaklov Broczyk, the two started well and even led 8:11 in the first set, but just then the Czechs picked up gear and achieved a run of nine consecutive points and completed Victory in the first set of 21:15.
The Czech momentum continued well into the second set and the result was 21:11 at the end.
The first-ranked players in the tournament won all their games until the final, including a double victory over the English pair.
In the semifinals, the Israelis came out on top in the first and second sets to win twice 21:23 and qualify for the final against the Czech pair.
This is the second consecutive silver medal for Ohana and Elazar in the world round, this is the fourth medal signed by the two and the fifth medal for Israel in the world round in beach volleyball.
Elazar summed up the big day: "We are happy for another medal in the world round, a third medal in a row. A little upset that we did not manage to win gold but it will still come."
