6-2 on the clock: Iran lost its first World Cup match on Monday, against England.
Coming out of the stadium, some Iranians were far from disappointed with the defeat.
On the contrary, they celebrated it.
In question, their support for the protest movement against the Iranian regime which has lasted for two months, since the death of Mahsa Amini, on September 16.
“We don't support the national team because they don't support our nation, our people”, explains an Iranian at the exit of the stadium.
England fans meanwhile are hoping the Cup will “come home” after a decisive first game.
