An online message has alarmed many investigators, including the FBI: A boy from Bavaria had threatened the makers of "League of Legends" with a rampage.

A 13-year-old from the Bavarian city of Hassfurt has called the FBI on the scene with a threat against the developers of the online game "League of Legends". "The guy had announced in a chat very specifically a rampage in the studio of the company," said a police spokesman on Saturday in Haßfurt.

After discovering the threat, Los Angeles-based development studio Riot Games alarmed the US Federal Police. The FBI determined and passed on the findings to the German colleagues.

The Bavarian State Office of Criminal Investigation and the local police then went in search of the author of the threat. "That was not easy at first - we only had one IP address," the spokesman said. After brief investigations, the officials found out the name and address of the youth from Haßfurt.

The case is closed

During a conversation with his parents came out: "The whole thing was meant by him as a joke". The boy had shown himself understandable. The public prosecutor's office has therefore and in view of the age of the boy stopped the proceedings.

The action was not completely without consequences for him, it was said: "His name is stored in the databases of the FBI, which may lead to an entry ban in the US, for example."
