With Executive Order 13884, the US government bans virtually every transaction between companies, organizations, and individuals in the US and Venezuela. The software maker Adobe is also affected by this. The company announced that it will deactivate all user accounts in Venezuela on October 29th.
Until the day before, users have the option of downloading their online content, after which access is no longer possible until further notice. A refund of paid, but no longer usable subscriptions will not exist, said Adobe, because that was prohibited by the order of the US government.
With Creative Cloud, Adobe is using an online solution to manage subscriptions to popular programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, or Acrobat. Although the programs can initially be used offline, they can not be paid further, updated or used across devices. Paid programs are therefore no longer usable if they can not be paid further. But also free services will not offer Adobe according to their own information in Venezuela.
The deactivation is therefore likely to hit artists, the media and non-governmental organizations in Venezuela. "We regret any inconvenience," said Adobe on request of "The Verge". One will "closely monitor and evaluate the situation".
