The electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla gets into trouble with a powerful control organization of the German economy. The Center for Combating Unfair Competition has said it is suing the US company for advertising claims on autonomous driving. The lawsuit was filed with the district court of Munich.
In the opinion of the Wettbewerbszentrale, Tesla gave the misleading impression that his cars could drive autonomously on German roads, even though they are actually only driver assistance systems. Because some functions are not allowed in Germany so far.
Among other things, the Wettbewerbszentrale criticized the statement that the "autopilot" function enabled "automatic steering, acceleration and braking", with which Tesla also advertised on its website on Tuesday. However, it added: "The current autopilot functions require active monitoring by the driver - autonomous operation of the vehicle is thus not possible."
The Wettbewerbszentrale is a self-regulatory institution of the German economy. Its approximately 2000 member companies and organizations include the Tesla rivals Volkswagen, Audi, Daimler and BMW.
