In Germany, LTE, where it is available at all, is particularly slow and also exorbitantly expensive, Sascha Lobo wrote in his most recent column, "Why Our Mobile Networks Are So Bad". The whole drama about the mobile infrastructure had already started in the eighties and continues to this day.
The governments "Kohl, Schroeder and Merkel agree that they always put in the wrong moment either on the market, if one would have to intervene," said Lobo - or vice versa. In addition, they had lulled themselves by lobbyists and digital infrastructure "always regarded as a political bargaining chip and not as a strategically essential goal."
The result: Sometimes it would be cheaper to take a taxi to other European countries and use mobile phones there than in Germany. In the podcast, Lobo picks up some reader comments on the subject.
