"It's Not My Guilt": A protest anthem against the rape culture that conquers the world
ReutersA Chilean protest song against rape culture and shaming victims, "Violence in Your Way" (Un Violador en Tu Camino), has become a feminist anthem of protesters around the world. The song was unveiled in November as part of the social protest in Chile, followed by the song and accompanying dance moves that have gained momentum in South America and the world, and were performed in demonstrations in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.
The song was created by a feminist theater group in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, and its lyrics describe how the body of the establishment - the police, the courts and the government - continues to violate women's rights. It includes the words: "It's not my fault, not because of where I was or what I wore," "You were the rapists, you the rapists, they're the police, they're the judges, they're the state, they're the president." The dance, among other things, involves squat movement because arrested protesters are required to kneel for this position, and the demonstrators see it as punishment and torture.

On Thursday, at the National Stadium in Santiago, the capital of Chile, a place formerly converted into a detention and torture camp during the country's military dictatorship, thousands of women gathered to perform the song and dance to protest the rape culture in Chile, including older women who lived during the Pinochet dictatorship.
Every day, 42 reports of sexual offenses are reported to the Chile police, averaging two complaints per hour, foreign media reports. Last year, a quarter of only sexual offenses cases reached a court ruling.
