Marie Fredrickson, soloist of the Swedish rocket band, passed away following a fight with the disease - and she is only 61 years old. In 2002, she fainted in the bathroom of her house and was beaten in the head. Hospital tests found a tumor in her brain. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In 2016, after a tour, she announced that the consequences of her illness were preventing her from continuing to appear. "The cancer has not returned, but it is almost blind in one eye and can hardly walk," said the band's partner, Per Gessla. She is survived by a husband and two children.

Her manager Dimberg Jernberg wrote: "We are very saddened to announce the death of one of our beloved and wonderful artists. Marie passed away yesterday morning."

"Time goes by so fast, so fast," wrote Roxette partner Per Gessella. "It feels like only yesterday that Marie and I were sitting in my little apartment in Helmstead sharing some dreams. And what a fantastic dream we had. Thank you, Marie. Thank you for everything. You were a truly unique musician, a songwriter at a level we would never experience again. From forty years. Rocket is one of the great pop bands of the late 80s and early 90s. Marie Fredrickson and Fer Gessella duo became famous for hits such as "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride" and their albums were sold in 25 million copies. The pair underwent many upheavals during their careers. The hardest fight of all was Fredrickson's struggle with a tumor that emerged in her mind in 2002. After her recovery, Fredrickson and Gessel went on solo careers and toward the end of 2009 hinted at their return to collaborative work, which ended with a new album and tour.

In 2011, Roxett appeared in Israel, and received excellent reviews.
