The world’s most popular messaging app, Wetsap, will stop supporting millions of mobile devices in the coming months. The Facebook-owned service now serves over a billion and a half users and quite a few are going to stop receiving support for it. Among the devices included in the blacklist you will find iPhones running iOS 8 and below, and at the same time Android devices from all manufacturers running 2.3.7 and below. "It was a tough decision for us, but also one that was right and justified in helping people stay in touch with friends and family through Wetsap," they said in Wetsap as they announced the move. The company also shared on their support page that it had to do so in order to keep users safe on the platform, as there were quite a few security updates over the years.

To the full articleThis is not Wetsap's first announcement of the move, and two years ago we received the first signs of service support removal with Finnish manufacturer Symbian, Nokia, running the S40 operating system. A few months later, it was the company's S60s that stopped receiving regular support, while now the list of devices seems to have grown significantly. As mentioned, Wetsap will stop working on devices running iOS 8 and below, Android devices with 2.3.3 and below, as well as Windows Vista devices with 8.1 and below. Device owners will not be able to open a new Wetsap account, and if they try to verify an existing Wetsap account on an old device, they will be blocked.
