Google has paused its latest upgrade to a Chrome browser for Android, after it turns out that the update is hurting apps that use WebView, a closed browser component used by other apps.
According to the report, browser update number 79 hampered the ability of third-party apps to access their WebView data, thus impairing their ability to run because it is an essential component.
It is unclear how many apps were affected by this malfunction, but one of the applications that many users have noted as being compromised is the Twitter Light App, which is probably reliant on access to information from the network.
User complaints have reached the company that stopped the update and is currently investigating how to fix the problem. Either way, the company stopped the automatic push of the update.
