This man, arrested last week, is suspected of having driven the vehicle which fatally mowed a police officer in Bron (Rhône).

Arrested last week, the man suspected of being the driver of the van who fatally mowed a police officer in Bron (Rhône) was indicted on Monday.

"He was charged with counts of intentional homicide on a person holding public authority and theft followed by violence resulting in death in an organized gang," said the Lyon prosecutor's office in a press release.

During the night of January 10 to 11, police officer Franck Labois was hit hard by a vehicle and died two days later from his injuries.

They darkened deliberately according to the police

Fares D., 21, admits "he was the driver of the vehicle but on the other hand denies having intended to kill him".

The drama happened during an operation against a team of cargo thieves who had just attacked a truck filled with cans of detergent. The thieves, stranded by police vehicles, were trying to escape when they ran into Franck Labois, deliberately according to police sources.

A 15-year-old minor was also charged with "theft followed by violence resulting in death". We do not yet know the exact role he would have had the night of the drama.
