Samsung's A Series was created to compete with Chinese manufacturers, offering relatively competitive prices. The Galaxy A70 launched last year is considered a success and now comes from the A71 replacement, only this time pricing is slightly higher. The A70 is sold at launch at NIS 1,700 and the A71 is priced at NIS 1,950. In return you get respectable hardware, a camera with 5 lenses and a big screen.
Design
The A71 is made of plastic, allowing it to weigh just 179 grams. This is a good statistic for his big screen. Samsung has incorporated a tiny flaw here which is essentially a circle of the front lens. Like other smartphones on the market, the A71 has a slim margin with a screen body ratio of 87.2%.
The back of the device received triangular strips with imperceptible streaks as the light broke on the back of the smartphone, illuminating the rainbow colors. The device is sold in the country in blue, black and gray, but overseas you will find it in pink. What is missing here is some water resistance.
screen
The A71 screen comes in 6.7 inches with Super AMOLED technology and 1080 by 2400 pixels resolution. The screen comes in a 20: 9 configuration and despite the use of AMOLED colors here are a bit pale, the sharpness is good but lacking neat HDR support here, there is some HDR compatibility here, but not the one supported by Netflix.
interface
The A71 comes with Android 10, which is already nice. On the Android is wearing the Samsung interface - One UI 2.0. This mantle features a night mode in which the interface is dark, a side menu for preferred apps and important contacts. Another capability of the interface is Bixby Routines, which lets you run apps and automatically change settings in certain situations, for example, before going to bed, in a meeting or in a car.
In the setting I chose, when I connected to Bluetooth on the car, the Spotify music app started playing automatically. Samsung also has a dedicated menu button for connecting to Windows with computers, so you can receive phone calls, read messages, and view photos from your smartphone.

Samsung has integrated the popular processor in the mid-range smartphone - Snapdragon 730, with a 6-gig working memory. This combination allows the device to work optimally and quickly. In addition, there is 128 GB of storage space and card expansion option.
The fingerprint mechanism that is usually integrated into Samsung smartphones under the screen, fails to provide a consistent and good user experience. On the A71 Samsung actually managed to improve it (optical sensor). While it does not offer responsive speed like some competitors, it hardly misses. In the audio field, the A71 features a single speaker of medium quality and not very powerful and also has a 3.5mm input.

Samsung has integrated 4 sensors in the camera: 64 megapixel main sensor with aperture key F1.7, 12 megapixel sensor for wide photography with F2.2, 5 megapixel sensor for macro photography (without auto focus) F2.4 and 5 megapixels for depth photography. Overall it is a good camera, reasonable level of detail and also the dynamic range is not bad. Night photography manages to provide bright but smudged images.
The selfie camera comes with a respectable 32-megapixel sensor and the ability to take portrait / bokeh shots or as Samsung calls them live focus (with the background blurred from behind). The selfie photos come out smooth and crisp in daylight, it's hard to even know it's a front camera. The problem here is the aperture key of just F2.2, which will make images in places with imperfect lighting conditions look blurry and crisp.
battery
The battery in the A71 comes with a decent capacity of 4500 m / h, but is not properly managed. From 7am until close to midnight, I had 20% energy at the end of the day (3 hours and 50 minutes of screen time).
The smartphone comes with a 25 watt fast charger, unfortunately it was not integrated into the unit I received for review and was unable to check the charging speed. The charging connector is of course USB-C and there is no wireless charging.
The bottom line
Although it is a smartphone that scraps NIS 2,000, it is definitely a device that excels in the middle category. It has a good camera, big screen and hardware that allows you to enjoy fast performance.
