Thirty-eight cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been identified in France since the onset of the disease, announced Thursday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. The day before, he had reported 18 cases in total.

This increase is explained by the identification of people who have been in contact with patients, explained the minister, ensuring that the French health system was ready to face an epidemic. "We are one step ahead," he added. Of the 38 cases identified, 12 patients have recovered, two have died and 24 are hospitalized, two of which are in serious condition, said Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon.
