Dani Lary, the illusionist magician who has animated Patrick Sébastien's “Biggest Cabaret in the world” for years on France 2, is based in Barbières, near Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) where he opened the Ateliers magiques de Dani Lary. A 1000-seat auditorium that he brings to life between two tours. But before becoming a star, Dani Lary made her debut on the boards of the cabaret la Charrette, an institution of Romans run by Christian Vincent and his sons Julien and Clément. A family who lost one of his family this Saturday: Julien, 44, murdered by the author of the terrorist attack with a knife which left two dead and five injured, several of them seriously injured.
"I started in the 1970s with the Vinsons, I was 13 years old," recalls Dani Lary, leafing through her photo album which includes images of the Vinsons at all times. “I knew Julien and Clément when we were very young and we never left each other. Today, he mourns his friend Julien.
The forty-something man was leaving his house with his 12-year-old son when the assailant threw himself on him in front of the bakery. "Julien just had time to stand in front of his son to protect him and he took the stabs," reports Dani Lary, inconsolable. "He was killed in front of his son, I can't believe it, it's something sick," he repeats in a loop. “Julien, he was a really nice guy, he always had a smile, always a nice and welcoming word for everyone. He was a pacifist, he always solved all the problems ”, continues the magician.
At the beginning of his long career which led him to perform in the biggest halls, Dani Lary very often animated the hall of the Charrette where "Julien was at the bar and Clément remained in the hall". And, faithful, he still goes there almost every evening as a neighbor, to have a meal and to relax. "I go to dinner at the Charrette two or three times a week, it's my canteen," confides the illusionist. With Julien, we ate together a dish of ravioli at the end of the bar, we redid the world. "

He also describes the disappearance of Julien Vinson as "a real shock for Romans". "All Romans knew him. Normally, without confinement, the whole city would have come to his funeral. Dani is thinking today of his father, Christian Vinson, the founder of the Charrette, who launched his career. “Christian is 73 years old. He is so shocked that he had to be hospitalized, sighs Dani. I do not see how he will recover from such a drama. "
The day before again, Christian Vinson sent an SMS to Dani Lary to take news of his health, the conditions of his confinement, the resumption of his shows. And to promise: "When all this is finished, we are going to party at the Charrette. "
