A couple, the father and his companion, placed in police custody last Friday after the suspicious death of a 4 year old boy, in Dol-de-Bretagne (Ille-et-Vilaine) was indicted and imprisoned on Sunday evening, reports France Bleu Armorique.
After 48 hours in police custody, Théo's father, 28, and his partner, 20, were presented to an investigating judge at the Rennes prosecution. They were charged with "violence resulting in death without intention to give it to a minor under 15 years of age by ascendant or person having authority and habitual violence against a minor under 15 years of age by ascendant or person having authority".
The couple was immediately imprisoned after this indictment.
The explanations of the father and his companion would have varied during the different hearings. They would have notably mentioned convulsions, then an accidental fall to explain Theo's death. Explanations deemed not very credible according to investigators from the Saint-Malo research brigade.
The facts had occurred Friday May 1 at the end of the day in Dol-de-Bretagne, near Saint-Malo. The firefighters had been called in to care for the child "in a state of brain death". The young Théo died shortly after his arrival at the Rennes University Hospital.
According to the first conclusions of the autopsy, Théo died following a head trauma.
