2020-05-07T15:57:03.087Z

INTERVIEW - The professor of public health returns to the Covid-Score, an individual calculator of the risk of contracting the disease and dying from it.

Pr Philippe Amouyel is professor of public health (CHU Lille) and director of the Alzheimer foundation.

LE FIGARO. - Why did you create Covid-Score, an individual calculator of the risk of contracting the disease and dying of it?

Pr Philippe AMOUYEL. - It is important to remember that when we are in contact with the virus, the reaction of our body is not identical for everyone and that is what on an individual level makes it dangerous. While most of us will have only a few minor signs, almost one in five of us will develop a serious form that could lead to death. Also, to help us identify these risks and limit the consequences, we created a very simple score, based on five colors associated with an increasing risk, the Covid-Score. It allows everyone to directly and instantly assess their individual risk and that of their loved ones of contracting the disease, having serious complications and dying from them.
