"The act of a severely mentally disturbed author, who was partly possessed". This is how the judge qualified Friday in his verdict the terrible gesture of Adrian S. At the end of January, during a family reunion, this 27-year-old man, armed with a 9 mm semi-automatic, killed her parents, two half-siblings, aunt and uncle. Two other family members were able to escape with serious injuries.
The shooting started in the middle of the day in Rot am See (southwest of Germany), a small town near Stuttgart, when the young man's family was gathered for the burial of his grandmother. The murderer, who had fired more than thirty shots, then called the police himself to report himself and waited for the agents at the scene of the crime.
At the start of the trial, at the end of June, the accused cited hatred of his mother as a reason. She allegedly tried to poison him with female hormones and destroyed her life. The expert reports did not provide any proof.
"A state of frenzy"
The man was in a "frenzy" from the first shot and could not get a clear idea, said the judge, who spoke of an "unconditional will to destroy".
A psychiatrist diagnosed him with delusions and a pathological mental disorder. Almost six months after the crime, the Ellwangen Regional Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and ordered his placement in a mental hospital.
"I simply shot everything that moved," admitted Adrian S. before his judges, according to the weekly Der Spiegel. He apologized for his actions. "No one should be afraid of me," he admitted on Friday morning, adding that he would like to go back in time and undo what he has done. " I am sorry. I regret what I did, ”he finally confessed.
