Concorso Italiano, the famous US event dedicated to the best collection and sports cars made in Italy - and which for thirty years precedes the events of the week in Monterey in California - will take place tomorrow 15 August only in virtual mode. To overcome the problems arising from the Coronavirus, the organizers, with the collaboration of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, will launch the first edition of the virtual car event at 8.15 am PDT (17.15 UTC + 1) on August 15. The idea will come to life within a larger online auto event, Petersen Car Week, which from 12 and 16 August will present a world premiere of over 25 hours of exclusive events, openings, auctions and more. A five-day event of accessible automotive content during which 40 of the largest automotive companies came together to keep the excitement of traditional Monterey Car Week alive. The program, on the website www.petersen.org, includes live preview presentations, online auctions, exclusive interviews, virtual car shows. All contents will be presented live on Petersen's You tube channel.

As per tradition, the Italian Competition will take place on August 15 but will last (live) just over an hour, giving life to a unique event dedicated to the world of Italian engines and cars that have made history, addressing an international audience as a point meeting place for all motor enthusiasts. '' This year many things are not as we have always experienced them - commented Tom McDowell, president of the Italian Competition - and our event is no exception. However, we wanted to keep alive the bond with our audience by giving life to a digital Italian Competition and continuing to support the Jacob's Heart Foundation as is our tradition ''. During the virtual car event Concorso Italiano, on the morning of August 15 at 8.15 local time (5.15 pm Italian time) the videos shot by those who have always participated in the event and by all owners of a 'tricolor' car will be available , eager to tell their great passion. In these videos they will tell themselves and the story of their car, showing its beauty down to the most particular and hidden details. By presenting their classic and street models, enthusiasts will show the evolution of design and technology from the Thirties to the present day in front of a vast and demanding international audience.

'' The participation of the car owners was surprising - said Raffaello Porro, co-organizer of the Italian Competition - But everyone also gave us an appointment for 2021 when, if all goes well, we will meet again live for a big party . Digital events simplify life a lot but do not give the same emotions as live ones ''.

Through the social media channels, a whole series of live activations will be offered to let everyone experience the unique and engaging emotions that only an event such as the Italian Competition and Car Week can give. The entire Petersen Car Week schedule will be visible online on Instagram channels: @ConcorsoItaliano and Facebook: @ConcorsoItaliano and on those of the Petersen Museum; i.e Instagram: @petersenmuseum, Facebook: @petersenmuseum, Twitter: @petersen_museum, Youtube: @Petersenmuseum.
