This Thursday, a Chechen in his thirties was struck by young people in the district of Vert-Bois, in Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne). An attack to which the Caucasian community would have wanted to respond violently, according to information from Franceinfo.
Faced with this threat of revenge, 16 young individuals were arrested on Friday at the entrance to the city. The suspects were armed with iron bars, baseball bats and knives. A CRS company was dispatched to the scene, at least until Saturday, in addition to the local police force. The young man attacked Thursday was not hospitalized, and did not wish to file a complaint.
This fear of a settling of scores in the city of Bragarde inevitably recalls the scenes of clashes that occurred in Dijon (Côte-d'Or) two months ago. Members of the Chechen community had led punitive expeditions against people from the Maghreb community because of the beating of one of their own.

The incident in Saint-Dizier does not, however, raise inter-community tensions, according to Le Journal de la Haute-Marne. Rather, it would come from a “dispute between two families”, which resulted in a slight injury.
