Lots of positive tests in UK food factory

12:40 a.m.: More than 70 employees at a British food factory are infected with the corona virus. The Bakkavor company in Newark-on-Trent in the east of England specializes in fresh food.

In investigations of 701 workers, the pathogen was detected in around one in ten, as the news channel Sky News reported on Monday evening. Now all of the other 1,600 or so employees are to be tested. How it came to the outbreak is still unclear, according to the report.

More than 19,000 new cases reported in Brazil

12:15 a.m.: Brazil is considered one of the countries hardest hit by the virus. The current figures have now been published. According to the Ministry of Health, the country recorded 19,373 new coronavirus infections and 684 further deaths within 24 hours. So far, 3,359 million people have fallen ill in the Latin American country and 108,536 people have died as a result of the virus.

Lithuania relaxes entry requirements

00.10 a.m.:  Lithuania has changed the entry regulations in view of the rising Corona numbers across Europe. According to a government decision, travelers from EU and European Economic Community countries are allowed to enter the Baltic state without restrictions.

However, anyone who comes from countries with an infection rate of more than 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants must show a valid negative corona test upon arrival, it said.

Up to now, entry has been prohibited for people arriving from countries with high infection rates, which are included in a list that is updated once a week. "The lists of less and more affected countries are now practically losing their meaning. The situation is changing everywhere," said Interior Minister Rita Tamasuniene: "That is why we want to subject everyone to the same entry conditions."
