Thousands of people were plunged into darkness this Thursday evening in Indre and several neighboring departments.
Around 9:30 p.m., the electricity cut in several districts of Châteauroux as well as in neighboring towns, residents reported on Twitter.
A damaged high-voltage line would be the cause of the failure, indicates the city of Châteauroux on the social network.
"Half of the department of Indre" was affected, adds the municipality.
"This would come from an incident in an electrical substation in Eguzon," said the Parisian Electricity Transmission Network (RTE).

"We are going to set up a COD", indicates a spokesperson for the prefecture in Paris.
The COD, a departmental operational center, is a crisis management tool activated by the prefect during major events affecting a department.
It brings together all the actors of civil security, the national police and gendarmerie, the relevant State services and representatives of communities.
