The bus driver had been severely beaten after refusing to let a group of young people get off between stops.

Four young people were recently arrested following an assault on a bus driver near Rouen (Seine-Maritime), Wednesday evening, according to France Info and Paris-Normandie.

The driver had been severely beaten by several young people after refusing to stop the vehicle between two stops, on avenue Ambroise Croizat in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray.

Faced with this refusal, the young people, who wanted to get off, went behind the plexiglass protection insulating the employee to hit him several times.

He was notably targeted by sputum and hit in the face.

The man was transported to Rouen University Hospital after the assault.

Unaccompanied minors

According to France Info, the four individuals arrested are unaccompanied minors, who therefore have no legal guardian in France.

One of them was arrested Friday evening, while the other three were arrested this Saturday morning.

The four minors were taken into custody and would have admitted the facts, according to Paris-Normandie.

During the assault, one of the alleged perpetrators would have filmed the scene.

Less than two weeks ago, a bus driver was also the victim of an assault in Seine-Saint-Denis.

The fatal attack on a bus driver in Bayonne this summer also sparked a wave of emotion in the country.
