Defender 2021, now also with a socket rechargeable version

Unsurprisingly close to the announcement of the hybrid-rechargeable Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover is introducing the electric version of its icon, which was launched several months ago.

The Defender hybrid system is the one that beats the nose of the Range Rover 2.0-liter PHEV, which costs NIS 642,000 in our places.

The electric model is called the P400e and will be based on a supercharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, supported by an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with a power of 19.2 kWh. In a fast charging position, 80% of the battery can be charged within 30 minutes. Will be offered in the short 90 models.

2.0-liter gasoline engine and electric motor with a combined power of 398 hp

The petrol engine produces 300 hp and the electric adds 142 hp to the equation;

The combined power stands at 398 hp and 65 kg, its self-weighted electric defender has climbed to 2,600 kilograms.

Acceleration from zero to 100 drops from 6.1 to 5.6 seconds, half a second faster than the P400 sold today as pure petrol.

An extra 14 kg will improve not only the accelerations but also the engine responses to slow and controlled driving, which is required in demanding off-road driving - this is important for adventurers who will descend with the hybrid version to the off-road. The stated driving range on pure electricity is 43 kilometers, also available In the field, fuel consumption is declared at about 30 kilometers per liter, a figure based on a full battery and a limited driving range.

43 km declared electric range

In exchange for the electric power, the third row of seats was canceled, and the towing capacity was reduced from 3,500 to 3,000 kilograms.

The Eastern Company told us that due to the reduction in tax benefits for hybrid vehicles, the price of the P400e is not expected to fall relative to current prices (668,000 for the 400P petrol version).

The P400e will be the most powerful Defender to showcase the SVR performance version that is currently in road trials, with a 5.0-liter V8 engine set to produce over 500bhp.

Hot diesels

Along with the plug-in versions, three new diesel engines were introduced in the UK, a 3.0-liter engine, 6-pistons in a column.

These engines are more powerful and refined than existing 4-pistons and are also more economical, thanks to a lightweight hybrid system.

The diesels will reach three power levels, from 197 hp (10.2 seconds 0-100) to 296 hp (6.7 seconds).

There is another intermediate engine, 8.3 seconds from zero to 100.

The Mizrahi company stated that the new diesel engines will be offered in Israel in parallel with the existing 2.0-liter engines;

This is because their price will be higher, and the Mizrahi company strives to keep defender models more accessible (the cheapest Defender in Israel costs NIS 498,000).

At the same time, a short 90 version was introduced in the UK, which costs about 10% less than the long 110, which is sold in our places.
