The two minors, aged 12 and 14, had called for help on the evening of Friday, August 21, telling them that a road accident had just occurred in Donzenac.
The drama is said to involve a mother and her 6-year-old son.
The woman is said to have died.
"Immediately the call center triggers the sending of many means of rescue and search consisting of ambulance, dog team", says the gendarmerie.
A helicopter is also deployed.
But no accident is localized.
An invoice for 2000 euros
The investigation of the gendarmes made it possible to identify the authors of the bad joke.
The latter confessed to their hoax, specifies France Bleu Limousin.
The case will be closed under the condition of compensation corresponding to the "cost of the search resources dispatched to the scene", explain the police.
According to local radio, the bill amounts to nearly 2,000 euros.
