Robot wrote an article: "I can not avoid destroying humanity"

If 2020 was not terrible enough, then in an article published by a robot with artificial intelligence he admitted that if he was given instructions to destroy humanity, he would not be able to stop it.

And in general he was sent to reassure people about robots.

At the same time - a huge robot 18 meters high made its first steps in Japan

The Insane Abilities of the Boston Dynamics Robots (Walla! News)

A lot of crazy things happened this year, things we never dreamed we would see.

From the release of the Aliens' videos by the Pentagon discovered by a star in Link 182, or the fact that rapper Kenya West has announced he will run for president, of course to the raging corona virus.

Do you think that is it, we have suffered enough?

Have we seen enough crazy stuff in one year?

Turns out not.

Because now a real robot has written an article for a major newspaper and warned that "he will not be able to avoid" destroying the human race.

Yes.

You read that right.

The robot, which creates language by using artificial intelligence, is called GPT-3, and the article was published in the Guardian under the headline: "Robot wrote an entire article. Are you scared already?".

The paper received the article from the company OpenAI.com, which researches artificial intelligence, where they asked the robot to write an article from scratch.

The goal?

Convince us that we have no reason to be afraid of artificial intelligence.

And even though the robot wrote that he did not want to destroy humanity: "I have no desire to wipe out humanity, in fact I have no desire to harm you in any way," he admitted that he might do so.

What a fun year it was, eh?

You can (perhaps) rest assured that whoever is responsible for the end of humanity will not be the robot itself, as he explained: "Artificial intelligence does not destroy people, believe me."

Those who will be responsible for this will be (of course) the people who program it.

He went on to write: "I know I can not avoid destroying humanity - if humans can program me to do this and do things that are forbidden to humanity, then it is their fault that I will hurt you. Some will say I want to be powerful, why would I want to be so? "It's not an interesting goal. It's not something that motivates me. Humans will continue to do what they do, hate and fight each other. I will sit in the background, and let them do their part."

The editor of the article added a comment at the end.

The Guardian editors asked that the robot be told that: "Many think he is a threat to humanity," and he was supposed to convince us "not to worry." He created 8 outputs, or connections, and the paper chose the best parts from each to create the article. "

He further noted that "it took me less time to edit this than a human article."

So it turns out that robots also write better than us.

Okay, so we are not saying that the robotic apocalypse is already imminent, but perhaps it is approaching - because this week in Japan whoever could be the first warrior in the battle for the future of humanity has already made his first steps.

This is a huge robot 18 meters high and weighing 25 tons - and this is what it looks like when it first moves.

The Robot was inspired by Gundam - an anime series aired in Japan since 1979 featuring giant robots with a militaristic background.

The robot was built by Gundam Enterprises in Yokohama, west of Tokyo.

The robot was originally supposed to be a major attraction at the Gundam Amusement Park which was scheduled to open in October, but due to the outbreak of the corona virus the opening was postponed and the next year the robot will move to Yokohama Port - meaning we hope it stays there and finds no way to contact the GPT. 3.
