More than 45,000 new infections in the US

According to a Reuters count, 45,851 new infections were registered within 24 hours in the USA.
A total of 7.11 million people were infected with the virus.
The death toll increased by at least 742 to 204,538.
Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof calls for Sunday openings

The head of the department store group Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, Miguel Müllenbach, advocates more Sunday openings in times of pandemics.
"We are in talks with many cities, but also with the churches, on this topic and receive a lot of support," Müllenbach told the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag".
"The unions should reconsider their position on this issue."
Corona account of the federal government filled with 148 billion euros

The federal government has huge liquidity reserves ready to further combat the corona crisis.
There are around 148 billion euros in an account at the Deutsche Bundesbank, as reported by the newspaper "Welt am Sonntag", citing the Federal Ministry of Finance.
This should ensure that the federal government's ability to act is always guaranteed when implementing the aid packages and special programs.
It was only at the end of the year that it was known which amounts would actually be needed to ward off the Corona crisis.
Number of positive tests in Argentina rises to over 700,000

In Argentina, more than 700,000 cases have so far tested positive for the
corona virus
.
The exact number is given by the Ministry of Health as 702,484.
15,543 people died who tested positive.
Most recently, there were an average of 11,082 new positive tests per day over the seven-day period.
This puts the country in fifth place worldwide behind India, the USA, France and Brazil - despite a significantly lower population.
Argentina, already suffering from an economic crisis, was one of the first countries in Latin America to introduce strict quarantine rules.
Gradual easing followed.
The virus gradually spread from the capital, Buenos Aires, to the provinces.
Lauterbach calls for free flu vaccinations

The SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach demands that the health insurance companies pay a flu vaccination for all insured persons this autumn and winter.
"The flu vaccination should definitely be reimbursed for all insured persons. It is a very sensible measure with low costs," says Lauterbach of "Welt am Sonntag".
"This year, too, the vaccine will be enough. We can afford to make it available to all insured persons free of charge."

Haseloff and Kretschmer against tightening the corona measures
00.09 a.m.:
Before the Corona crisis summit scheduled by Chancellor Angela Merkel for Tuesday, East German heads of government speak out against stricter requirements.
"The infections in Saxony-Anhalt are rising slightly, but they are still traceable and currently there is no reason to think about tightening the measures again," says Saxony-Anhalt Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) "Bild am Sonntag".
His Saxon counterpart Michael Kretschmer (CDU) demands voluntariness instead of coercion, according to the newspaper.
"I rely on the personal responsibility of the people who will and must behave more disciplined now in the autumn," he is quoted as saying.
The newspaper refers to a survey by the opinion research institute Kantar, according to which 57 percent of those questioned want to keep the measures in their current form, eight percent are in favor of easing, 33 percent for tightening.
