Dear readers,
some news material would simply fail as a Hollywood plot: too clichéd, too expected.
But that was exactly the situation on Friday morning: The US President, who had downplayed the danger of the coronavirus for months and only recently made fun of wearing a mask again, is now sick himself and is in quarantine.
With 200 million eligible voters called upon to vote on the future President of the United States in 31 days, the country is now facing severe turbulence.
Measured by the number of cases and the devastating consequences that Sars-CoV-2 has wreaked worldwide, this is where the most dangerous virus in the world meets the most powerful man in the world.
"We will start our quarantine and recovery process immediately": With these words, US President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he was infected with the corona virus.
His wife Melania Trump is also affected.
Nobody can say for sure how Trump's illness will progress.
What is certain, however, is that it belongs to the risk group with two factors, as my colleague Julia Köppe writes.

"You don't feel any pain, but you know you are dying - Alexei Navalny on the poison attack, Putin's guilt and the Germans" is the title of the new SPIEGEL. The issue is
now available digitally
and at the kiosk.
