As is logical after the number 3 and 4, comes the 5, even when it comes to the acronyms of the electric range of Volkswagen.
So shortly after the debut of the ID.3 - the first electric sedan of the Wolfsburg manufacturer, which arrived last weekend in Italian dealerships - and the presentation of the ID.4 crossover, some photos 'stolen' at the Nurburgring reveal the definitive aspect of the crossover coupé ID.5 variant.
As reported by the specialized magazine Autoevolution, which publishes the photographic preview, this new model seems to incorporate elements already seen in other electric cars of the Group such as the Audi Q4 e-Tron Sportback or other similar cars arriving from Cupra and Skoda, all united from the MEB platform.

The images (albeit altered with adhesive tape to simulate a Kia 'Tigier Nose' front end) also recognize a concept ID Space Vizzion kinship that Volkswagen first showed at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show.
ID.5 also aims to compete - especially in relation to the US market - to the new Tesla Model Y which has similar characteristics.
Under the skin of the ID.5 there should be a 200 hp engine powered by an 82 kWh battery in the two-wheel drive version, while the subsequent high-performance four-wheel drive variant should have a total of 302 hp.
The debut of the ID.5 coupe crossover is scheduled for 2021.
