YouTube app for children launched in Israel (PR)

After breaking download records and becoming one of the most popular children's apps in the world, the YouTube Kids app is launched today (Tuesday) in Israel.

The app opens to children and parents a new world of viewing options for diverse and family-friendly content, and allows parents to control the content and the duration of their children's viewing on the platform.

The launch takes place against the background of an increase in the screen time of children in Israel, following the social distance.

A survey conducted by Ipsos at the request of YouTube earlier this month indicates a 63% increase in the average daily viewing of screens by children aged 3-12 during the corona period, from 2.2 to 3.6 hours a day.

The survey also shows that the proportion of children who watch screens every day rose from 70% to 83% during the corona period.

"YouTube Kids allows parents to design their children's viewing experience," said Hanit Marinov, Google's Marketing Director in Israel.

"A survey we conducted in Israel," she added, "shows that 79% of parents want to change their children's viewing habits on screens. Two-thirds of them attributed this to fears of long viewing hours and inappropriate content, and half of the parents stated their reluctance to watch non-educational content. "At the expense of social activity. The content adjustment tools and the time limit for use that the app offers, which are adapted to each child in the family, will help parents achieve this."

The YouTube Kids app includes four key features that can be customized for each child in the family: parent-child interface, parent-approved content, screen time and family-friendly content - the app allows kids to get their curiosity addressed through channels and playlists in seven different categories.

The app is available for free download for smartphones and tablets on Google Play and the Apple Store.

In addition, the service can also be used on the website.

Kids do not need a Google Account to enjoy YouTube Kids, and you can not upload videos or comment on the content on YouTube Kids, only watch it.

The app was launched in February 2015, and has since been translated into 38 languages and is active in 85 countries around the world.
